Alyssa Milano may not possess all of the power of Phoebe Halliwell on ‘Charmed,’ but she is trying to put together a little magic to save the lives of a group of suffering dogs.
Milano teamed up with Tonic to prevent a mass euthanasia to be carried out at the Harrison County Dog Pound in Cadiz, OH. The dogs in this facility are living in substandard conditions, kept outside in freezing temperatures, with their only water supply icing over and becoming undrinkable.
In addition to being exposed to the elements, many of the dogs are living in filth and are suffering from medical conditions that have gone untreated. Milano and Tonic are teaming up with California’s Gentle Barn foundation to save the lives of these animals, who will be transported by Gentle Barn to a local vet for treatment as soon as foundation representatives arrive at the pound.
While one donor has already provided a generous $5000 to allow the
release of these dogs, they are in desperate need of medical treatment so that they can survive and thrive in the care of their future adoptive homes.
Tonic is just over $500 away from meeting their financial goal, which would provide transport for Gentle Barn rescuers to the pound where the dogs are being held, medical care for the animals, and transportation back to Gentle Barn for any pups who don’t find loving homes in Ohio.
You can donate to the cause on Tonic’s website or share information about the cause via email, Facebook, or Twitter.
