William Curl, 34, of DeKalb, Ill. was charged Friday, Oct. 29 with first-degree murder in the slaying of 18-year-old Northern Illinois University freshman Antinette "Toni" Keller.
CHICAGO (WLS) — The suspect in the murder of a Northern Illinois University student is due back in court Monday.
William Curl is charged with killing 18-year-old Antinette “Toni” Keller, of southwest suburban Plainfield. If convicted, he could face the death penalty.
Curl is due back in court in Sycamore, Ill., near DeKalb, via closed circuit TV from jail. Curl is accused of killing Keller, an art student, and burning her remains.
Investigators say Curl was arrested in Louisiana last week after first fleeing to Mexico. He is being held on a $5 million bond and charged with first-degree murder, criminal sexual assault and arson in the death of the college freshman, who disappeared Oct. 14 and was last seen going to a nearby park.
Burned remains were discovered in that park two days later. They have not officially been identified as Keller, but items thought to be Keller’s, such as her cell phone, were discovered near the remains.
On Monday, Curl could enter an official plea of guilty or not guilty. His first hearing was over the weekend where his bond was set.
I don’t have any sympathies with this man.
