Alleged drunk driver crashes into four houses

An elderly man who was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol collided with four houses earlier this week in Palos Hills, rendering one completely unfit for occupancy.

Palos Hills police say they arrived at the 9700 Kingsbury Ct. neighborhood and found a car trapped against the side of a home. Inside the car, they found 77-year-old Michael Doorhy still with his foot on the accelerator.

Police also say Doorhy had the smell of alcohol on his breath when they spoke to him. He agreed to provide a urine and blood sample.

An inspection of the neighborhood revealed that Doorhy had collided with four houses. The city later deemed one of the homes so badly damaged that it was uninhabitable. No people were reported injured from the accidents.

Doorhy was arrested and charged with a DUI and multiple traffic violations, including reckless driving, improper lane usage, improper back up, and failure to reduce speed to avoid a collision. Doorhy will appear at the Bridgeview court on May 16.
