Anna Nicole Smith And The Chicago Symphony Orchestra

What do Anna Nicole Smith and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra have in common? An opera, apparently.

The opera, Texan Tenebrae, based on the tough life of late Playboy model Anna Nicole Smith, technically doesn’t debut until February 2011 in London, but there will be a few sneak peek shows in Chicago this week.

Mark-Anthony Turnage, former Chicago Symphony Orchestra composer-in-residence, wrote the opera about Smith.

Turnage is no stranger to controversy. His first opera, Greek, made headlines for its violence in 1988.
