The O’Hare Modernization Program could cause more neighborhoods in nearby Bensenville to be wiped out.
A Chicago City Council committee is expected to vote on an ordinance to annex land from the village for airport expansion.
Mike Cassidy is Village Manager for Bensenville. He says the village can’t afford to fight Chicago anymore because of economic troubles.
CASSIDY: There was realization I think on behalf of the administration, the staff and our village attorneys that the city had done what they needed to do change the laws, changes the rules, to be successful in the OMP.
Cassidy says the city will be removing hundreds of homes and local businesses. The vote could come up later this week.
