Betty Loren-Maltese expected in Chicago

Former Cicero President Betty Loren-Maltese is expected to arrive back in Chicago Monday.

She’s expected to check in sometime before noon.

Her seven-year sentence on a federal corruption conviction ended on Friday.

She will be staying at a halfway house in Chicago until she can find a job and a new place to stay. She is reported to be broke.

She lost her homes in Cicero and Las Vegas during her time in prison.

She also still must repay the town of Cicero $8 million as part of her sentence.

I am a single mother as well and the last thing you should be getting is a car payment. I would try Craigslist.com and buy from a private owner. PLEASE do not buy a American car they do not age well. I would try a Honda Civic or Accord or Maybe a Toyota Camry or Corolla. These cars are good on gas, reliable, and Maintainence is affordable. I would take a Mechanic with me to look the car over and try to buy a car from the first or second owner.Good Luck!

She did her time, and will probably be paying her dues until the day she dies. In the meantime, I hope she aims to better herself and that she gets back up on her feet somehow.

Like I said, I am glad she “did the time for the crime” — and I will respect someone like her if they better themselves and prove that they have learned from their mistakes.

HOWEVER… I REALLY hope she doesn’t get a job before I do. I’m sorry, I know it sounds like an immature thing to say — but it actually is NOT. I was laid off from a senior level job at my old company back in 2009. I have struggled to find employment — yes, the job market is tough, even for me.

Seeing as I’m just as qualified as Betty, if not more qualified as her (believe me, I am), I would be livid if an EX-FELON was employed before someone like myself, who has a non-existent criminal record and an impressive resume to boot.

I really hope nobody feels as though she deserves some generous offer because they feel sorry for her. Feel sorry for ME, who performed well at my company and didn’t steal, lie, or cheat them out of anything etc… but ended up getting laid off anyway. Feel sorry for ME who has tried finding employment to no avail.. not for ex-felons whining about how they are not able to find a job with a criminal record.

They act as though they are the only ones struggling to find employment. I am struggling too, but we are struggling for completely different reasons. Either way, if anyone deserves to whine, its those of us without a criminal record.

I hate hearing “Having a felony on my record is ruining any chance of employment..” WELL, maybe you should have thought about that before you put yourself on a pedestal, looking down at the rest of us as “suckers” from who you could easily conceal your crime. THAT is what a criminal is — at some point, they thought they were sooo smart, and that they would be that one person who would get away with the crime. Hilarious. Looks like they are the suckers now.

Anyway, I know Betty did her time — but she may well have ruined some people’s lives… so she needs to be reminded of what she did every day for the rest of her life. :)
