The trial of Ward 5 Ald. Sam Cahnman on a misdemeanor solicitation charge has been continued until May 21.
Jersey County Judge Eric Pistorus, who was appointed to hear the case in January, granted a continuance at the request of defense attorney Jay Elmore last month. Cahnman’s trial had been scheduled for Wednesday.
Cahnman, 55, allegedly solicited a sex act from a woman undercover police officer at a Springfield bar early on Aug. 9. He has pleaded not guilty and requested a jury trial.
