Chicago Ranks 167 on 2010 ‘Allstate America’s Best Drivers Report’

Sixth Annual Study Reveals Cities with Safest Drivers

CHICAGOPRESSRELEASE.COM — The Allstate Insurance Company (NYSE: ALL) today released its sixth annual “Allstate America’s Best Drivers Report™.”

The report ranks America’s 200 largest cities in terms of car collision frequency to identify which cities have the safest drivers according to Allstate data.

In the 2010 report, Chicago ranks as one of the least safe driving cities, landing at number 167 on the list.

According to the report, the average driver in Chicago will experience an auto collision every 7.6 years. That’s an improvement of .3 years since last year’s report was issued.

“We don’t want drivers in Chicago to be discouraged by their ranking. Instead, we want the report to challenge drivers in Chicago to make positive changes to their driving habits that will in turn make the city a safer place to live, work and raise families,” said Kevin Carney, Territory Sales Leader for Allstate’s Chicago Territory.

The Allstate America’s Best Driver’s Report was created to facilitate an ongoing dialogue on safe driving that saves lives. This year’s top honor of “America’s Safest Driving City” is Fort Collins, Colorado. According to the report, the average driver in Fort Collins will experience an auto collision every 14.5 years, which is 31.2 percent less likely than the national average.

Below is a look at how other cities in Illinois finished.

Auto crashes in general have declined over the last few years, but crash fatalities still average around an alarming 35,000 every year despite technological advances, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

“Human error is the biggest cause of accidents. It is vital for us to educate drivers across the country on the importance of being tolerant and attentive behind the wheel,” said Carney.

Allstate offers the following safe driving tips drivers should consider:

  • Minimize distractions Engaging in any other activity while driving – talking on your cell phone, text messaging, changing a radio station, putting on makeup – is a distraction.
  • Be aware of road conditions Ice, snow, fog, rain – all of these weather conditions require extra caution and slower speeds.
  • Leave a safe distance between your car and others around you Maintain at least one car length space between your car and the vehicle in front of you for every 10 miles per hour of speed.
  • Steer clear of road rage – Reduce stress on the road by allowing plenty of time for travel, planning your route in advance, and altering your schedule or route to avoid congested roads. Remember not to challenge aggressive drivers and stay as far away from them as possible.
  • Maintenance matters – Ultimately, safety also depends on the maintenance of one’s car. Ensure that car brakes, exhaust system, tires, lights, battery, and hoses are in good working order.

The Report

For the past six years, Allstate actuaries have conducted an in-depth analysis of company claim data to determine the likelihood drivers in America’s 200 largest cities will experience a vehicle collision compared to the national average. Internal property damage reported claims were analyzed over a two-year period (from January 2007 to December 2008) to ensure the findings would not be impacted by external influences such as weather or road construction.

A weighted average of the two-year numbers determined the annual percentages. The report defines an auto crash as any collision resulting in a property damage claim. Allstate’s auto policies represent about 11 percent of all U.S. auto policies, making this report a realistic snapshot of what’s happening on America’s roadways.

Run outside its more natural. A treadmil, takes the ground away from you. I got injured on the treadmil so even if it was raining outside I would not go use it at my gym, thats why I run enough like that on bad weather days I could take a rest on my legs. Go to a park with a nice trail , thats what I do.

  5. May be leftover food or undissolved powdered detergent. At the bottom of the unit, there is normally a screen. Check to see if it is full and clean it out. The water temperature may not be high enough (120 to 140 degrees) to dissolve the detergent.

  6. Hey – great article. Well, we all watched the Cavs-Heat game… sadly, he’s still the king. I hope that it isn’t the beginning of the downhill roll for the cavs. If the Cavs aren’t gonna rise up for this, whats going to motivate them? I’m just happy the Cavs fanbase didn’t embarrass themselves. Anyway… cool site – I’m subscribed to your RSS feed now so thanks again!

  9. There are many programs (usually one included with camcorder) that all you have to do is plug your camcorder in to your computer with the supplied cable (typically USB) and through the program you can access your camcorder and then play your movie while your computer captures the movie. These programs will (typically) allow you to edit your movies once they are downloaded as well. I personally use Windows Movie Maker, and it work decent for me. Good Luck.

  10. Try clicking on the below link to go to a page on KitchenAid’s website. On there you can find a choice to fill in the blank with your particular dishwasher model to get the instructions on it. As far as the odor, try runniing a couple of cycles through the machine with a cupful of vinegar.

  11. Definitely! Messengers are the perfect fall bag. Totes are better for spring/summer. Messengers are more rustic and tend to go better with fall colors. A plaid messenger bag would be really cute.

  12. cellulite says:

Squats are a great exercise to help break down the cellulite and tensing you bum for ten seconds all through the day will also really help as you can do it as meany times as you like and nobody will notice your doing it great if you sit down when you go to work. However a great extra to just exercise is what i swear by which is my cellulite body brush which you can buy from most pharmacy’s and it only costs about £4.99 or £10.99 if you want a fancy one lol. When you get out of the shower brush the part of the legs with the cellulite on in an upwards direction about 5 or 6 times and after a few uses you will see a huge improvement. Hope this helps you x

  13. For those who’re still on the fence: grab your favourite earphones, head all the way down to a Greatest Buy and ask to plug them into a Zune then an iPod and see which one sounds higher to you, and which interface makes you smile more. Then you definitely’ll know which is right for you.

  14. Wm Smethers says:

You could try out Matt Gorden’s Ejaculation Trainer or Christian G’s Ejaculation Master. Both are all-natural guides. The worst thing you can do is try creams or pills, because they are just masking the problem. PE is all in your head and you can train yourself out of it quite easily.

  15. men fashion says:

I’m 17 and live in the UK. All the guys i know who are my age and older, still wear plimsolls. I prefer grey on a guy but they both look good. Wear them with loose fitting skinny jeans, or tight fitting skinny jeans and ‘grandad’ t-shirts. or skinnies, plain t-shirt and a cardi.

  16. Jamel Sfera says:

cause they think they can get help for thier problem when they really need to do is go check into a drug treatment center to get the right help that is needed for them

  17. Joel Novel says:

Yes… machines are different. You need to look in your owners manual. If you dont have one go to their website. Maybe you can find something there. If you know any neighbors ask if they sew. Even if they dont have the same machine they could probably figure it out. m
