City Clerk Urges Residents to Avoid Lines and Buy Stickers Online as Deadline Looms

Online sales of annual city vehicle stickers and daily residential guest passes have increased nearly 50 percent from last year, City of Chicago City Clerk Miguel del Valle announced today. To date, 165,009 vehicle stickers and daily guest passes have been issued compared to 110,585 stickers and guest passes issued at the same time last year. Vehicle owners have until June 30, with a grace period running through July 15, to purchase and display their 2009-2010 vehicle stickers or they could receive a $120 ticket.
“Buying your vehicle sticker online is the easiest and most convenient way to get your sticker,” said Clerk del Valle. “It takes just a few minutes to complete the purchase and your sticker will be processed and mailed within a week.”

Using new printing and mailing technology, people who purchase their vehicle sticker online will receive them within 14 business days of purchasing the sticker. There is no additional charge to purchase your sticker online. Vehicle sticker and residential zone parking prices are unchanged from last year.
More than 1.2 million vehicle sticker renewal notices were sent to residents at the end of May. A renewal form is not necessary to purchase a vehicle sticker online, except for senior residents who must use a renewal form number to purchase their sticker. Renewal forms also can be used to purchase a sticker by mail. Walk-in vehicle sticker sales are available at City Hall, City Clerk Satellite Offices, Department of Revenue Substations and several community vendor locations. As in prir years, residents can also purchase a vehicle sticker at their Alderman’s office on select sales dates.
