CPS Asks Teachers for New Concessions

Chicago – Chicago Public School administrators are asking teachers for more concessions to close the budget gap.

The proposals include unpaid holidays for teachers, along with frozen wages.

The district is dealing with a $370 million budget gap.

CPS said if all its proposals were implemented, the district would save around $446 million.

The Teachers Union president said teachers are reluctant to accept wage freezes because they don’t think it will save their jobs.
