Chicago – In an effort to help stop violence in Chicago, Governor Quinn signed legislation to set up a telephone hotline for Chicago students Monday.
The hotline will let them anonymously report information to police about any problems that could turn violent.
“When they hear about a potential matter of violence, or when they know something about a violent incident, we don’t want people to take a vow of silence. We want to stop the violence and stop the silence,” Quinn said.
The hotline will be up and running on Jan. 1.
More information will be posted in every Chicago public school.
