Elgin police investigate possible shooting at Wing Park

Elgin police are investigating a gang shooting at Wing Park about noon Friday.

Witnesses who were in the park reported hearing a loud crash and saw a gray Chrysler sedan with its wheels spinning pushing a black sedan. One witness said she heard gunshots.

Elgin Deputy Police Chief Jeff Swoboda said shots were fired during the incident and no one was hit.

“Our initial reports are that it was gang related,” he said.

The gray car then sped off eastbound on Wing Street from Aldine Avenue.

The other car pulled into a lot in Wing Park near the golf course, and a man jumped out and ran northwest between apartment buildings west of Wing Park.

A police dog is aiding in the investigation.

No arrests have been made so far.
