Nichols Middle School in Evanston will remain closed to students Wednesday.
The school was shut down Tuesday after nearby residents reported they heard an explosion early in the morning. A man walking his dog found a decapitated body near the school. Police say the body was near two explosive devices.
Evanston Police Commander Tom Guenther:
GUENTHER: In large urban areas, such as Chicago and surrounding suburbs, you do deal with these situations. They are not common here in Evanston, whatsoever. But we have very highly-trained investigative personnel who have dealt with these things over the years and we’ll deal with this one.
The Chicago Sun-Times is reporting the body has been identified as a 21-year-old man. The investigation continues into the circumstances of how he died.
