Ex-Carmel coach goes to military school

CARMEL, Ind. (WISH) – The former Carmel High School basketball coach who resigned amid controversy with the team has a new job.

Mark Galloway is now head basketball coach at Culver Military Academy in northern Indiana.

Galloway was one of three coaches to resign after a student was allegedly bullied and assaulted on a team bus.

Galloway was one of eight candidates in a national search for Culver.

The director of Culver, John Buxton, tells I-Team 8 Anchor Karen Hensel they talked to Carmel administrators, former players and fellow coaches like Brad Stephens at Butler.

Buxton says all had positive comments about Galloway.

“We didn’t think the conclusion was that this was not a man of good character,” Buxton said.

He also says during the interview Galloway told them he wished he had been on the bus that night, and as the head coach it reflected on him.
