Forum set for parking meters price hike

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard says he wants to hear more from the public about a plan to raise prices for parking meters downtown.

Last month Ballard made some changes to the plan.

Under the new proposal the city gets $20 million up front from a private company called ACS that would run the meters.

That’s $15 million less than in the first deal, but the city gets a bigger percentage of the meter revenue.

Ballard says he wants to use the money to fix city streets and sidewalks.

There is another public forum Thursday night.

It starts at 6 p.m. at the Athenaeum Building in the 400 block of East Michigan Street downtown.
