I hope this comment is not too blunt, but the I have two daughters age 3 and 2. The 3yr older is in preschool (Bright Futures which is funded by the state). Next year, my 2 year old will be old enough to attend Bright Futures. This program is in jeopardy due to lack of funding from the state. I understand the tragedy that has happened at NIU, but there are also tragedies happening all around this state. I'm writing this to ask if there is a way that NIU can honor the fallen students by telling the Governor that the renovations can wait. Remodeling/renovating will not take away nor change what happened at NIU. Ten million dollars would do a lot for schools around the state, like Bright Futures in Galesburg IL which serves Knox County (200-300 students). This is a plea to the students, faculty, and staff on behalf of all the young minds around the state hoping for a Bright Future.
