Green Thumbs Line Up For Flower and Garden Show

CHICAGO (WBBM)  — If the warmer weather has you eager to get started on this year’s garden, the Chicago Flower and Garden Show may be a good place to start.

The show has displays of the latest in landscape design, educational seminars and a preview of new varieties of plants.

Show Director Tony Abruscato says they’ve designed to inspire, educate and motivate.

He says the warm weather certainly helps people get in the mood for gardening, but he says it’s too soon to start.

Even if all your snow were to melt, he says the ground will be too hard and the grass too wet to plant anything.

This year’s theme is ‘cultivating great performances’ and features gardens designed by landscapers inspired by stage productions.

Between 50,000 and 60,000 people are expected to visit the show at Navy Pier, which runs through March 14th.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
