A 16-year-old Hinsdale boy drove a car onto the soccer field at Oak School, 950 S. Oak St., and got stuck in mud at about 11 p.m. March 13, Hinsdale police said.

The teen was issued a citation and released to his parents with a court date, police said.

According to police, the boy was not at the school when officers arrived and had gone to ask a friend to help him extricate the vehicle.

Police contacted the car owner and the boy was charged with violation of a local ordinance at the police station, according to police.

Community Consolidated School District 181 officials said the damaged area would be repaired in the future, but added it could take several weeks to know the actual cost to roll and seed the field.
