VERNON HILLS, Ill. (STMW) — A Buffalo Grove man was arrested by Vernon Hills police after he reportedly posted a violent threat on his Facebook page.
Michael E. Sullivan, 41, of 166 Morningside Lane, Buffalo Grove, was charged with a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct on March 13 at his workplace in Vernon Hills.
Vernon Hills Crime Prevention Officer Sharon Joseph said a woman acquaintance of Sullivan’s from Louisiana saw the threatening post on his Facebook page and contacted police.
“The complainant was alarmed and disturbed by these statements and decided she should call police,” Joseph said.
The Facebook post read: “Michael Sullivan is again ready to start killing indiscriminately. I’m going to put Vernon Hills on the freaking map.”
Joseph said that Sullivan admitted to making the post from his cell phone to his Facebook page but said he was just “venting and joking around.” She said that Sullivan indicated he was under stress from working three jobs and is also a single parent.
Joseph said police do not believe Sullivan poses a real threat and no further charges were pending. He was released after posting $75 cash bond and is scheduled to appear in Mundelein Branch Court on April 19.
