ST. CHARLES (STMW) — An Elgin man was charged last week with felony aggravated criminal abuse of a minor for allegedly having sex with a 16-year-old girl.
Israel H. Perez Jr., 23, of the 600 block of Hill Ave. in Elgin, was arrested Wednesday on a felony charge of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a minor and misdemeanor charges of harboring a runaway and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, police said.
Perez allegedly let a 16-year-old girl stay with him at his home without notifying police or the girl’s parents of her whereabouts and lied about it to police, according to a police report.
The charge of aggravated sexual abuse stems from an allegation Perez had intercourse multiple times with the girl, who is younger than 17, while Perez is at least five years older than her, police said.
Perez’s bond was set at $25,000. He is to appear in court April 1.
