Man dies after SUV crashes, bursts into flames

Authorities were notified of the crash at 3422 N. Drake Ave. about 4:50 a.m., according to Police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez.

The driver of the Ford SUV involved in the crash is expected to be “dead on arrival” at the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office, Perez said. No one else was hurt, Perez said.

The unidentified male was apparently burned when the vehicle flipped and burst into flames and he was dead on the scene at the Drake Avenue address, according to the medical examiner’s office.

As of 6:10 a.m. the vehicle with the victim inside was being towed to the medical examiner’s office.

The police Major Accident Investigation Unit and Grand Central Area detectives are investigating.
