Man killed by train in Auburn

AUBURN – An unidentified man was killed Thursday when he was struck by a passing Amtrak train.

Auburn Police Chief Bruce Centko described the incident as an accident. He said the victim appeared to be a local resident.

“The body is that of an adult male. Preliminary identification has been made, but no names will be released until the coroner can notify the family and a positive identification can be made,” Centko said.

The man was struck about one-half block north of Illinois 104 about 5:40 p.m.

“It appears he was walking with his hat pulled down tight over his eyes and probably didn’t see the train,” Centko said.

Chelsea Brettin, 19, of Auburn said she was waiting for a southbound Amtrak train to pass the crossing about 5:40 p.m. when she saw a shirt and another object fly out from under the train. When she pulled forward after the train passed, she said, she could see body parts on the track.

Brettin said she immediately called police.

“I did not want kids to have to see that,” she said.

Police and firefighters blocked Illinois 104 at the railroad tracks in Auburn. Traffic was being detoured, and a white tent had erected on the road near the tracks.

The train stopped about one-quarter of a mile down the tracks and was still at the scene as of 8 p.m., Centko said.

The Amtrak Website reported that the train, the Texas Eagle, left Springfield about 5:20 p.m., about 5 minutes late. It was expected to arrive in St. Louis about 10:40 p.m., nearly 3 1/2 hours late.

One thing that I have noticed is that there are a whole lot of earthquakes these days. Big ones too. So what does that have to do with anything? Making money is not all that easy these days but fortunately, I found a trick. It’s a little known secret that is only shared by some top level Internet gurus. There is nothing illegal or shady about it… it’s just kind of secret. And the best part – it is really running on full autopilot. This super affiliate push button software is the real thing, so if you’re planning to use it unethically, or use it for scam purposes, this software isn’t for you! If you can spend no more than 3 minutes to download and setup this software, and then click the ‘Start Button’ just once to start this autopilot push button software… Then you can make money online. Basically what it does is bring a stream of free visitors to any website. You might be tempted to try to disect this software in order to ‘see the magic’ but why bother? All you really need to know is that you can download it (if the link hasn’t been taken down yet) and then push a button and watch the magic. Test it out -> http://tinyurl.com/pbcsites
