Mice infestation shutters chicken restaurant

CHICAGO (CHICAGOPRESSRELEASE.COM)  — City inspectors shuttered a South Side chicken restaurant last week after finding more than 200 mice droppings.

Mayor Daley’s Dumpster Taskforce shut down Harold’s Chicken at 7158 S. Western Ave. late Friday due to an active infestation of mice, according to a release from the Dept. of Streets & Sanitation.

Inspectors found more than 200 mice droppings and also found that Harold’s did not properly maintain its grease disposal box, the release said.

The restaurant was closed and will not be allowed to reopen until management cleans and pest-proofs the establishment, the release said. The restaurant must also revise its guidelines for pest control and housekeeping, then pass re-inspection.
