More Than 200K at Women’s March Chicago: Organizers

Hundreds of thousands of people gathered in Chicago Saturday for the second annual Women’s March Chicago, organizers said.

Being dubbed this year as the “March to the Polls,” the Women’s March Chicago group gathered for a rally and march through downtown streets “to energize women and allies to turn voices into votes.”

During the rally, organizers told the crowd an estimated 200,000 to 300,000 people were at the event.

Crowds began gathering around 9 a.m., flooding city streets ahead of an 11 a.m. rally.

Speakers, which included several prominent Chicago politicians and activists, and performers, including the cast of Hamilton, took the stage as women held signs and chanted.

A march began just before 1 p.m.
