CHICAGO (WBBM) – Mayor Richard M. Daley says it’s time the City Colleges were re-invented: That’s the marching orders he’s given to two new appointees.
Why reinvent the City Colleges, as Mayor Daley wants to do?
“We need to review the entire funding and curriculum structure of the City Colleges system so they’re better educating our students, but also better training them for tomorrow’s job.”
Mayor Daley is bringing 40-year-old Cheryl Hyman on as City Colleges chancellor.
Hyman was a dropout who went back to school – and is now vice president of Comed.
“This is a tough job the mayor has given me, and I love tough jobs.”
53-year-old Gery Chico, who spent several years working to improve the Chicago Public Schools, is in line to become chairman of the City Colleges board.

Sometimes these failures are stepping stones to create a huge change, a LEAP to see a brighter side of what life brings you. To someone else success; you have to walk a long journey, seldom it would happen to someone a road to success is easy; the easier road is not the right one. The difficult one is the right one; sometimes luck would strike you they said grab it or you loose it. It takes a caterpillar to grow and fly like a butterfly. It takes a champion to perfect his craft; it takes a mother to rear a child; it takes a wife’s courage to love and care for his husband and accept his inequities; it takes a father to sacrifice for his family; it takes a calamity to change a country; it takes war to gain peace; it tooked God to create the world for 7 days; probably you think on the third day he rested; but I don’t think so because he guided US while we sleep day and night and it took him a while to change water into wine to feed all and it took him his life to give salvation.
HI! I have so many failures in my life as well but I consider it a challenge. Sometimes It takes a failure to open up someone to sense that there would become a transition or change. It takes courage to stand up again and move on. Without failure there would be no success
