KOKOMO, Ind. (WISH) – In the eyes of the Obama Administration Kokomo is a symbol of success.
A town that was once on its death bed is recovering. And Blake Kinder, 27, will tell you Federal stimulus dollars saved the community. The money also helped turn his childhood dream into reality.
“I always had a dream of opening a blues bar or an Irish Pub,” Kinder told 24-Hour News 8 Monday night.
Tuesday, Blake Kinder and his family are opening Cook and McDoogal’s Irish Pub in the heart of downtown Kokomo.
Coincidentally, the pub opens for business on the same day President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden are in town to highlight the town saved by stimulus dollars.
President Obama and Vice President Biden will visit the town and tour the Chrysler Transmission plant. The area has received over $400 million in direct Recovery Act funding.
According to the White House, “Kokomo is a key example of how federal government investments, when used wisely, can work together to impact an entire community.
