CHICAGO (WBBM) — Chicago Police say the female police commander who is accused of making telephone threats against a male officer has been relieved of police powers.
Police say 11th District Commander Penelope Trahanas has turned herself in to the police Internal Affairs division – and that she has been arrested and charged with telephone harassment.
A statement from police says Commander Trahanas “has been relieved of police powers pending further internal review” and completion of the investigation by the Independent Police Review Authority.
Police say Trahanas’ gun has been taken away.
A male officer with whom Trahanas had apparently had a relationship has accused Commander Trahanas of making threats over the telephone – and an order of protection was issued against Trahanas.
A police spokesman says Commander Trahanas is free on bond.
