PARK RIDGE, Ill. (STMW) — Authorities are investigating a possible link between a Park Ridge bank robbery Monday morning and one earlier this month at the same location.
Monday’s robbery happened at 10:48 a.m. at a TCF Bank branch at 1 W. Devon Ave, according to a Park Ridge police release. The man, between 30 and 40, approached the bank teller and demanded money. The bank teller complied with the man’s request. The suspect then fled the bank on foot, heading south on Canfield Road.
The suspect is a white male, 5-foot-11 to 6-foot-4 and unshaven, the release said. He was last seen wearing sunglasses, a baseball hat, a green utility jacket, blue jeans and athletic shoes during the robbery, the release said.
The same bank branch was robbed March 5 and the suspect’s description appears to be the same. The manner in which he robbed the bank was also similar.
“At this point, there are definitely some similarities, but we aren’t ready to link the two robberies,” Park Ridge Police Cmdr. Lou Jogmen said Tuesday.
Jogmen said authorities were reviewing video surveillance and were closely enhancing images to ascertain whether the same suspect robbed the bank.
Park Ridge Police and the FBI are investigating. Anyone with information should contact the Park Ridge Police Department at (847) 318-5252.
There have been at least 31 bank robberies in the Chicago area in 2010, according to the FBI.
