Police seek man who tried twice to abduct girl

CHICAGO (STMW) — Police are warning of a man who tried to abduct an 11-year-old girl twice in the Brighton Park neighborhood of the Southwest Side last month.

On Feb. 24, the man exited a pickup truck in the 3000 block of West 39th Place and approached the 11-year-old girl at about 2:15 p.m. after school, according to an alert from Wentworth Area Detectives. He claimed to know her mother.

The next day at the same time and place, he exited the same truck and asked if the victim knew him before grabbing her. She was able to get away and fled on foot, the alert said.

The man is described to be a 32-year-old Hispanic man, 5-foot-8 and 170 pounds with short black hair and beard, the alert said.

The truck is described as a dark brown small-sized pickup truck with a yellow pine tree freshener, a baby shoe on the rearview mirror and a multi-colored “S-O-X” sticker on the he driver side of the rear pillar.

Anyone with information should call Wentworth Area Detectives at (312) 747-8380.
