Former Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose is reportedly taking a hiatus from the Cleveland Cavaliers and evaluating whether to continue his basketball career.

That news, which originally was reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, came out on Friday as the Cavaliers prepare to take on the Charlotte Hornets at home. Rose, who is averaging 14.3 points per game and 1.7 assists, has only appeared in seven games and has not played for the Cavaliers since Nov. 7.

According to the report, Rose is “tired of being hurt and it’s taking a toll on him mentally.” His career with the Bulls, which culminated in an NBA MVP award under former head coach Tom Thibodeau, was ravaged with knee injuries, and the issues have continued as he has played for the Cavaliers and the New York Knicks over the last two seasons.

Rose signed a one-year deal with the Cavaliers over the offseason after being traded by the Bulls during the 2016 offseason.
