Suburban Man Dies Day After Fall at Wrigley Field

A Wheaton man died Wednesday afternoon after falling over a railing and hitting his head the day before at Wrigley Field, authorities said.

Richard E. Garrity was pronounced dead at 3:33 p.m. at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.

Police said Garrity fell over the ballpark railing at about 11 p.m. Tuesday night and suffered head trauma.

The fall happened as Garrity was leaving the ballpark, according to the Chicago Tribune, citing a statement from the Chicago Cubs.

“The thoughts and prayers of our entire organization are with his family during this difficult time,” the statement read.

An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.
