Third robbery in a week in same area

A man told police he was robbed of his cell phone and a portable Play Station game system as he walked at 15th and Edwards streets Monday night — the third such robbery in that general area in a week.

No one was arrested in connection with the robbery, which happened about 10:50 p.m. The 37-year-old victim told police two men approached him, displayed silver and black handguns and demanded his belongings. In addition to the Play Station and the cell phone, they got away with his wallet, $10 and keys to the victim’s apartment.

Two similar robberies happened last week. A man told police he was robbed about 2:30 a.m. Thursday in an alley in the 1300 block of East Lawrence Avenue. He said two men about 25 years old approached him, beat him and stole his cell phone and wallet containing $60.

Another victim told police he was walking near 15th and Adams streets about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, when two men, who he estimated to be 18 to 20 years old, approached him and demanded money. They were armed with black revolvers, he told police, but they fled without getting anything from him.
