Woman killed by snow plow in Rogers Park

An elderly woman was struck and killed by a snow-plow equipped truck as the driver reversed into a Far North Side Rogers Park driveway Tuesday afternoon.

Yuliya Polzikova, 71, of 1250 W. Morse Ave., was pronounced dead at Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston at 2:59 p.m., according to a Cook County Medical Examiner’s office spokesman, who said the incident happened at 1325 W. Morse Ave.

The woman was struck about 2:15 p.m., according to police News Affairs Officer Daniel O’Brien.

The driver of a Chevy Silverado — equipped with a snow plow — was reversing into a driveway when it struck the woman.

The incident was not a hit-and-run, but it was not immediately clear whether the driver was cited in the crash, O’Brien said. The truck was not owned by the city, he said.

An autopsy for Polzikova is scheduled for Wednesday.

The police Major Accidents Investigation Unit is investigating.
