GLENVIEW (STMW) — Kayakers found the body of a woman off the Des Plaines River Sunday afternoon near north suburban Glenview.
A couple kayaking in the Des Plaines River found the body of a woman in the river about a quarter-mile south of Milwaukee Avenue, Cook County Forest Preserve spokesman Steve Mayberry said.
The couple called 911 and Cook County Forest Preserve police responded and brought the body onto the shore, Mayberry said.
The body is described as a woman wearing a dark shirt, dark pants and gym shoes, Mayberry said. She was not wearing a coat.
Mayberry said there are no signs of foul play.
The woman appeared to be a white woman in her 30s and was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:30 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Officials are still trying to identify the woman, the medical examiner’s office said.
No signs of trauma were apparent, and an autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
Anyone with information about the woman is asked to call the Cook County Forest Preserve police at (708) 771-1001.
