Field Museum to Open New ‘Jurassic World’ Exhibit

The famous gates of “Jurassic World” that visitors will walk through to enter “Jurassic World: The Exhibition.” Not only does the Field Museum have one of the best dinosaur collections in the world, but this summer, visitors will have the opportunity to come face-to- face with some of the closest simulation of dinosaurs ever created. “Jurassic World: The Exhibition” opens on May 26, according an announcement from the museum.  It was developed with paleontologist Jack Horner, who was the Paleontological Advisor for the movie “Jurassic World.” The exhibit will be housed in a 16,000 square-foot tent on the front lawn of the museum, in which visitors will walk through the famous “Jurassic World” and be taken on a guided tour where they will see various dinosaurs, some of which are over 24 feet tall.

The Chicago Cubs have a classic blue pinstriped look for their home uniforms, but for the team’s first home game since winning the 2016 World Series, fans are going to notice a pretty significant change. According to a new video released by the team on Friday, their home uniforms for their games April 10 and 12 against the Los Angeles Dodgers will feature gold numbers and gold trim instead of the traditional blue as they unveil their championship banner and receive their championship rings at the Friendly Confines:  The Cubs won’t be the first team to wear gold-tinted uniforms in celebration of a World Series title.

Families Protest Eviction From East Chicago Homes

More than 200 families have already left their homes in East Chicago, forced out after the Environmental Protection Agency discovered dangerously high levels of lead and arsenic in the soil.  But for some of the 67 families still living in the area, leaving isn’t an option.  Despite their efforts to stay, several families say they’re being threatened with forced eviction if they don’t leave by the end of the month.  “We’re here to deliver a message to this city. We’re here to deliver a message to this state,” said Sheila Garland with National Nurses United, who joined others outside East Chicago’s Administration Building to protest the potential eviction.

Someone entered the home of a sleeping family in north suburban Wilmette stealing electronics and the family’s minivan—and the crime might be connected to auto burglaries nearby, police said Friday. Police said they responded to a home on the 400 block of Sandy Lane after a family said someone came into their home overnight while they slept and made off with a television, computer monitors and various pieces of small electronic equipment in addition to their 2011 Honda Odyssey.

Boy Shot on Chicago’s Southwest Side, School Lockdown Lifted

A teenage boy was shot Friday afternoon on the city’s Southwest Side prompting a nearby school to go on lockdown, authorities said. The boy was shot in the 6700 block of South Mozart Street about 2:51 p.m.
