LINCOLNSHIRE, Ill., July 18, 2011 /CHICAGOPRESSRELEASE.COM/ — Workforce professionals from across the US will be participating in a live webinar on July 27 to learn about Jobseeker Success Mindset Training™. This new online resource teaches people how to create a resilient mindset to persevere in finding work faster despite a job market that CBS News says is worse than during the Great Depression. The lack of job growth and rising unemployment creates emotional turmoil for millions of Americans, and financial turmoil for states and academic institutions. Economists believe these challenges will persist several more years before employment rates finally reach pre-recession levels.

Reports on the effects of long-term unemployment published by Pew Research and the Brookings Institute say the jobless become discouraged, depressed and stop looking. Disappointments and loneliness erode their self-esteem and will to compete. The Bureau of Economic Research reports jobseekers with an optimistic mindset find jobs more easily and are more rapidly promoted, raising the importance of teaching people how to self-regulate their emotional resilience to compete for jobs during the slow recovery.

Efforts to assist the jobless typically involve coaching and training to develop job search skills and occupational skills. Not systematically developed are mindset skills to prevent beat down attitudes and self-sabotaging behaviors. The introduction of mindset training to improve jobseeker resilience and performance finally closes this gap in essential skills training.

In April, Illinois became the first state to introduce Jobseeker Success Mindset Training. Designed by Career Contentment, Inc., the course is available 24/7 to Illinois residents. “We spent years refining the course in One Stops, colleges and networking centers,” said Jeff Garton, career author and President of the firm. “We then worked with the State to convert the format to eLearning to reduce costs and increase access. Feedback indicates the training renews hope and reinvigorates enthusiasm and resilience to persevere, and employers see potential in how the course improves work attitudes and performance,” said Garton. The webinar will discuss the course content and the importance of offering this new resource to the many discouraged jobseekers in other states.
