Tribune Chicago Websites Hit Record Page Views With Blizzard Coverage

CHICAGO, Feb. 3, 2011 /CHICAGOPRESSRELEASE.COM/ — Tribune Chicago websites including chicagotribune.com, WGNTV.com and CLTV.com set an all time page view record yesterday with 26.7 million combined views. In a single hour, between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. yesterday, chicagotribune.com saw a staggering 1,395,163 page views.

“This represents the biggest day and hour in our history,” said Jane Hirt, managing editor of the Chicago Tribune.  ”In the middle of extreme weather, the Chicago area turned to Tribune for up-to-the-minute coverage on road closures, train delays and safety information.  It’s our job to be there for the community, including during rare weather conditions. We’re grateful for the faith Chicagoans put in us to get through the storm.”

The previous page view record in a day and an hour was set on November  5, 2008, during the noon hour, the day after the presidential election.
