CHICAGO, Dec. 20, 2010 /CHICAGOPRESSRELEASE.COM/ — Tribune Media Services, Inc. (TMS) and Puzux, LLC announce the launch of an Amazon Kindle Active Content title for the classic scrambled word game, Jumble®. The Jumble game title can be purchased through the Kindle Store or directly on Kindle and will be playable on all Kindle devices. TMS is a subsidiary of Chicago-based Tribune Company. Puzux is a Mountain View, CA-based startup.
“Amazon’s new Kindle Active Content platform opens up a whole new world for content developers and consumers,” said Steve Tippie, TMS Vice President of Licensing. “The new Jumble title takes the game to an exciting new level of playability and interaction. The Jumble fan no longer needs to be online to play the game and the user experience is intuitive and fun.”
The Jumble Kindle titles are offered in one free 3-puzzle trial format and three paid formats: a 20-puzzle title for $0.99, a 50-puzzle title for $2.49 and a 200-puzzle title for $4.99. Each puzzle uses the Jumble game play familiar to millions of daily print users, including four basic jumbled words and a jumbled bonus phrase tied to a cartoon illustration clue. TMS provides Jumble puzzle clues, answers and illustrations. Puzux programmed the software and provides it to Amazon for sale.
Jumble is one of America’s most popular word games. It appears daily in almost 600 newspapers in the United States and abroad and is available online, on mobile devices and as print books, magazines and calendars.
“We are excited that Kindle customers can now play Jumble on Kindle,” said Mike Nash, Vice President, Amazon Kindle. “Tribune Media Services and Puzux have created a fun new way for people to play the popular game on Kindle.”
TMS is not a newcomer to Amazon Kindle. It has offered themed magazines on Kindle for two years, including Opinionated, featuring political commentary, CASH, featuring articles on personal finance and money management, and PopMatters, featuring independent reviews and articles about popular culture.
