Chicago Young Republicans, Rep. Aaron Schock Pair to Lead GOP Resurgence
Congressman Aaron Schock will headline a Republican-Style “Rock the Vote” event on June 29, 2009, from 6-10pm at the Cubby Bear in Wrigleyville.
Hosted by the Chicago Young Republicans (CYRs), the event features the largest gathering of Republicans in the city this millennium.
Upwards of 1,500 people, many of them new to the Republican Party, will gather in solidarity and celebration, reaffirming their belief in low taxes, free markets, and open, ethical government. Representative Schock, the youngest member of Congress, will emcee with “Sixteen Candles,” Chicago’s favorite cover band, providing the evening’s entertainment.
Other headliners include Mary Katherine Ham of the Weekly Standard, Jack Ryan, former U.S. Senate Candidate. Harry Stein author of I Can’t Believe I’m Sitting Next to a Republican, and local and statewide Republican candidates. The event represents the resurgence of the Republican brand through increased membership in Chicago and the first step in preparation for the 2010 election cycle.
The CYR Summer Membership Event is the culmination of a successful integrated marketing campaign launched earlier this month. This includes extensive advertising on CTA trains and buses, Red Eye ads, Zoom Media restaurant and bar promos, taxi toppers, and Facebook, Google, and other internet banners. Combined, the campaign elevates the Republican brand to unprecedented levels in Chicago.
“Most Republicans feel that they are alone in Chicago,” said Jeremy Rose, CYR President. “The purpose of the CYR campaign and membership event is to raise awareness that there are others like us in President Obama’s own backyard and that the future of the party lies in our hands.”
It is time empower those who are tired of Chicago’s high taxes, bloated government and endemic corruption. The CYR media and membership campaign is giving voice to those who seek an alternative to Chicago’s pay-to-play political system.
