Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs and the Chicago Park District Host “Veterans’ Adaptive Activities Day” Oct. 9

On Friday, Oct. 9 from 10am to 2pm, Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs (IDVA) Director Dan Grant and representatives from the Chicago Park District will join Illinois Veterans and their families for the 3rd annual “Veterans’ Adaptive Activities Day” at Northerly Island in Chicago.

The event, co-hosted by the IDVA and the Chicago Park District, will give Veterans with disabilities the opportunity to try a wide variety of sports equipment with adaptive fitness specialists from across the region.

The day includes various adaptive activities such handcycling, rowing, golf, seated aerobics, table games, fishing, wheelchair basketball, football, and more.

Refreshments will be provided to all participants. Parking is free.

This event is free. Participants are asked to pre-register by emailing chris.miller@illinois.gov or calling 312-814-5538.
