Kenney Bank and Trust Announces New Compliance and Bank Secrecy Act Officer
Kenney Bank and Trust (KBT) is pleased to announce that Michelle Hemerley has joined the bank as Senior Vice President and its new Chief Compliance Officer and Bank Secrecy Act Officer.
As a former bank examiner with twenty years of experience and a passion for compliance, Michelle’s knowledge and reputation have already proven to be valuable resources for KBT.
Prior to joining Kenney Bank and Trust, Michelle served as First Vice President, Chief Compliance Officer and Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) Officer at Corus Bank (now MB Financial Bank), which is based in Chicago, IL.
For the past thirteen years, Michelle directed the nationally recognized BSA and Anti-Money Laundering compliance program at Corus, which serves over 400 Money Service Business customers.
Michelle has also been a featured speaker at many compliance conferences including those of the American Bankers Association (ABA), Bank Administration Institute (BAI), Anti-Money Laundering Association (AMLA), Bankersonline BSA Conference and the Graduate School of Banking.
She has served on the BAI planning committee. Michelle was recently been named to the Advisory Board for the Chicago Chapter of the AMLA and will lead the AMLA Chicago Chapter events.
Michelle’s experience prior to joining Corus includes serving as a Senior Consultant for a large Chicago area accounting firm; assisting with authoring multiple manuals and compliance tools for Sheshunoff Information Services; and overseeing compliance matters at 44 branches across seven states for First Bank Systems.
Michelle began her career as an Examiner for the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas in 1990 at the Denver Branch. She has also worked as a private investigator on high-profile cases over the past twenty years.
Kenneth W. Biel, Chairman and CEO of Kenney Bank and Trust, stated that, “in an era of increased compliance awareness, Michelle is a perfect fit. We are excited to add this level of talent to the KBT organization.”
