South Side Woman Charged with Attacking Paramedic, Hospital Nurse
Kimberly JONES, 40, of the 8000 block of South Burnham, was charged with felony Aggravated Battery to First Aid Personnel, misdemeanor Battery, and Possession of a Controlled Substance on Nov. 27, 2009 by the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office.
On Nov. 27, 2009, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Grand Crossing officers stopped JONES during a suspicious person call in the 2500 block of East 72nd Street.
JONES told the officers that she was having breathing problems due to a consumption of illicit drugs.
The officers summoned Chicago Fire Department paramedics, who attempted to give first aid to JONES. As JONES was being interviewed by a 33 year old male paramedic, JONES punched him in the face for no apparent reason.
JONES was restrained and taken to South Shore Hospital, where she remained combative, intentionally spat in the face of a 38 year old male nurse, and was found to be in possession of a small amount of narcotics. JONES was treated and released from the hospital and subsequently taken into police custody.
JONES is scheduled to appear in Central Bond Court TODAY at 26th and California.
