St. Luke’s Hospital Acquires Pioneering Technology From BrainLAB
VectorVision(R) flex with TraumaCad(TM) from Voyant Health Offers Orthopedic Surgeons Increased Accuracy and Improved Workflow
BrainLAB, a manufacturer of software-driven systems for targeted, less-invasive medical treatments, announced today that St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has acquired VectorVision® flex, a powerful computer-assisted surgery (CAS) system featuring Digital Lightbox© with TraumaCad(TM), a pre-operative planning and digital templating software solution.
St. Luke’s is the first in North America to acquire this technologically advanced duo.
VectorVision flex integrates advanced tracking software to enable surgeons to perform highly precise orthopedic procedures and is equipped with Digital Lightbox, an interactive multi-touch viewing platform.
Combined with TraumaCad, Digital Lightbox extends the benefits of digital templating to the OR, allowing surgeons at St. Luke’s to more precisely predict intra-operative needs and challenges and update surgical plans during the procedure.
“Adding these incredible technologies to our portfolio demonstrates our commitment to offering patients in the communities we serve advanced treatment,” said Sandeep Munjal, MD, Orthopedic Surgeon at Physicians Clinic of Iowa.
“We are better supported to perform advanced surgeries like hip surface replacement. Performing our desired plan with confidence helps ensure an optimum outcome for our patients.”
“We are excited about this deployment,” said Zeev Glozman, Voyant Health CEO.
“TraumaCad’s multi-touch user interface will allow the busy surgeon to quickly adjust the surgical planning on the Digital Lightbox, and we look forward to advancing these capabilities further, based on customer feedback.”
VectorVision flex displays 3D representations of the patient’s anatomy allowing surgeons to visualize and track instrument positioning relative to intra-operative data for more precise and less-invasive surgery.
Digital Lightbox offers data enrichment features that allow physicians to customize surgical plans to better leverage information for more informed decision-making.
With the adoption of digital imaging technologies for x-rays, TraumaCad enables surgeons to digitally plan their surgeries from any location, with seamless access to all necessary x-rays and advanced planning resources.
A full suite of software tools for orthopedic procedures, including joint-replacement planning, deformity-correction and trauma surgery planning, supports the potential for greater surgical accuracy.
“This acquisition is in line with St. Luke’s history of innovation and commitment to providing patients with quality healthcare. We look forward to the benefit this technology can have on their patients,” stated Sean Clark, President, BrainLAB Inc.
