The School of Performing Arts and the Theatre Building of Chicago Presents URINETOWN July 17-19

The School of Performing Arts (schoolofperformingarts.com) proudly presents URINETOWN the Musical.

This hilarious saga of revolution and love will have you gasping for air between laughs. For twenty years a drought has ravaged the water supply of a town, and strict restrictions must be placed over the uses of water. The Urine Good Company lead by the devious Mr. Cladwell sets these laws and restrictions, one of which is the outlaw private toilets.

People must now pay a tax and deal with the bitter tax collector Mrs. Pennywise to use a public toilet, and for the poor of the town that means sacrificing other amenities to placate their bladders. Those bold enough to try and find a way around the law, such as public urination and other acts are carted off to URINETOWN, a mysterious place where the law breakers are punished. Finally, after years of oppression Bobby Strong has had enough and starts a rebellion against the rich folk and the Urine Good Company. There is just one problem he is in love with Cladwell’s daughter Hope. Which side will he choose?

Actors in URINETOWN are among the most talented in Chicagoland, hailing from Naperville, Lisle, Elmhurst, Aurora, Downers Grove, Lombard and Countryside. They worked on everything from costuming, to properties, make-up design, photography and this very press release!

This experience is offered nowhere else and truly allows the students to be professionals. They put up the whole show in 3 weeks, working harder than even the famous actors on Broadway.

The Ensemble: Ross Conway, Katie Czech, Lindsey Field, Megan Gunn, Jessie Knoble, Amanda Knutson, Carleigh Turner, Annie Yokom, Anna Goodman, Chris Oechsel, Ian Williams, Dan Brennan, Anthony Avino, Julian Burzynski, Leighanne Crawford, Claudia Dockery, Leigh Frederick, Alyssa Frewen, Alexandra Friedman, Christie Jeung, Nora Laidman, Maddie Moran, and Brianna Novotny.

URINETOWN is directed by Ray Frewen, an award winning director and actor. For over 20 years he has participated in Chicago’s theatre community and was Artistic Director of Drury Lane Oakbrook Terrance for seven years. Robin Kersey-Dickerson is URINETOWN’s choreographer. Robin has worked on Broadway as well as choreographed shows such as Joseph, Little Shop of Horrors, Grease, and Godspell.
