The NHL power rankings will be updated every Monday throughout the NHL
season. To see last week’s
rankings, click here.
(0-0-1)
One
shootout loss to a good Kings team isnt enough for the Canucks to get bumped
from the top overall spot, as their 40th anniversary celebration was doused by
Los Angeles.
2 Detroit Red
Wings
(2-0-0)
Red Wings spoil
Chicagos banner-raising night and follow that up with a convincing win over
Anaheim. Pavel Datsyuk’s fight with the Ducks’ Corey Perry has to be mentioned
here too, doesn’t it? 3 Boston Bruins
(1-1-0)
Newcomers Nathan Horton and Tyler Seguin
tally in 3-0 win in Sweden, as Bruins earn a split with Phoenix overseas. The
Bruins will hope their new offensive weapons keep up that
pace.. 4 Philadelphia Flyers
(1-0-1)
Good
goaltending performances from rookie Sergei Bobrovsky and Brian Boucher in the
first two road games, as Flyers capture three of four points without team MVP
Chris Pronger. 5 Chicago
Blackhawks
(0-1-1)
Defending champs lose a pair of one-goal
games to start the season, but rebuilt fourth line getting good reviews so far
after several players departed from the team over the
summer.
6 Washington
Capitals
(1-1-0)
After losing opener to Atlanta, Caps
respond in a big way by blowing out the Devils in their home opener. Is
20-year-old Marcus Johansson the answer as a second-line center? Time will
tell.
7 Los Angeles
Kings
(1-1-0)
An impressive win to start the season
against the Canucks, but Kings follow that up with a loss to Calgary their
10th straight defeat at the Saddledome. Los Angeles has just two goals in
regulation in two games.
8 San Jose
Sharks
(1-0-1)
Antti
Niemi backstops a 3-2 win in first game, while Antero Niittymaki takes the 3-2
overtime loss in the second game against Columbus in Sweden. Yep, get used to
hearing about the goalies on this team, at least until one of them becomes the
established number one.
9 Phoenix
Coyotes
(1-1-0)
Coyotes
start the season with a win against Boston, but cant find offense in 3-0 defeat
in second game against Bruins abroad.
10 Montreal
Canadiens
(1-1-0)
Another
club where the spotlight is on the goaltender, Carey Price was sharp in a 3-2
win in Pittsburgh. Mike Cammalleri picked up right where he left off in the
playoffs last spring with two goals (after serving a one-game suspension to
start the year).
11 New Jersey
Devils
(0-1-1)
Its almost hard to believe,
but Devils may only have nine forwards for Mondays game, with Pierre-Luc
Letourneau-Leblonds suspension and Brian Rolstons questionable injury status.
Talk about mismanagement of the salary cap 12 Pittsburgh
Penguins
(0-2-0)
Secondary
scoring is still a concern with the Penguins after two losses in their brand new
building, including Pascal Dupuis, who has already been demoted off of the
Sidney Crosby line. Jordan Staals absence is already being
felt.
13 Nashville
Predators
(1-0-0)
Thankfully for
Nashville, it looks as if goaltender Pekka Rinne is fine after suffering a
lower-body injury in a 4-1 win over the Ducks in their only game so
far.
14 Buffalo
Sabres
(1-1-0)
Buffalo split its first two
games, but will have to respond after surrendering six goals to the Rangers in a
6-3 loss in its home opener. 15 Carolina Hurricanes
(2-0-0)
With two
wins in their first two games, the Hurricanes are picking up where they left off
at the end of last season. Impressive rookie Jeff Skinner looks like hes here
to stay.
16St. Louis Blues
(1-0-0)
Jaroslav
Halak is already paying dividends with a strong performance in the home opener
against Philadelphia in a 2-1 overtime win to generate some local
interest.
17 Ottawa
Senators
(0-2-0)
It
hasnt been a good start for Ottawa, which has dropped its first two games of
the season by a combined 7-2 score. Its only two games, but there is reason for
concern.
18 Dallas
Stars
(2-0-0)
A good start for Dallas with a
pair of one-goal wins in overtime and a shootout, as Brad Richards grabs a share
of the early league lead in points with four.
19 New York
Rangers
(1-0-0)
It was quite the debut for
rookie Derek Stepan, who scored three times in his first NHL game. Maybe Stepan
can produce that offensive flair that New York was lacking for so many stretches
last season.
20 Atlanta
Thrashers
(1-1-0)
Thankfully,
goaltender Ondrej Pavelec appears to be fine after a scary moment in the opening
game against the Capitals in which he fainted and was helped off of the ice on a
stretcher.
21 Anaheim
Ducks
(0-2-0)
The Ducks have been outscored
8-1 in losses to Detroit and Nashville and are off to a terrible start. Andy
Sutton and Toni Lydman, both added in the offseason, are hurt, forcing the team
to sign Andreas Lilja to a one-year deal to help on the blue
line.
22 Tampa Bay
Lightning
(1-0-0)
The revamped
Lightning got off on the right foot with a 5-3 win over Atlanta, aided by
star-in-the-making Steven Stamkos two goals.
23 Toronto Maple
Leafs
(2-0-0)
The top talents on the Maple
Leafs all look strong early, including Phil Kessel, Tomas Kaberle and Dion
Phaneuf. With two wins in their first two games, there is reason for optimism in
Toronto for the first time in awhile.
24 Columbus Blue
Jackets
(1-1-0)
Blue Jackets hang tough with
the offensively gifted Sharks, splitting their two games in Sweden including a
3-2 overtime victory on Saturday. Steve Mason made 33 saves in the win.
25 Edmonton
Oilers
(2-0-0)
The
cellar-dwellers from a year ago, the Oilers look like they will at least be a
fun team to watch. If you need evidence of that, check out Jordan Eberles goal
against Calgary. 26 Colorado
Avalanche
(1-0-0)
The
schedule-makers handed Colorado a five-game road trip after its home opener
against some strong teams like Philadelphia and Detroit. How they respond will
be a key to their early-season success (or lack
thereof). 27 Minnesota
Wild
(0-1-1)
It
wasnt the best trip to Finland for the Wild, who went 0-1-1 against Carolina to
make the long flight home even longer.
28 Calgary
Flames
(1-1-0)
The Flames laid an egg against
the Oilers in a 4-0 loss to start the year, but secured a nice win against Los
Angeles to even their record.
29 New York
Islanders
(0-0-1)
New York is
lucky that John Tavares concussion is minor. The last thing this already thin
team needs is another injury as it competes in the toughest division in the
Eastern Conference.
30 Florida
Panthers
(0-1-0)
The Panthers
outplayed Edmonton in their first game of the season, but still suffered a 3-2
loss to the leagues worst team from a year ago.

“Health care is supposed to be accessible to everyone, but somewhere along the way, it became profit-driven at the expense of employers and American citizens.”
Once government takes over, the only way for YOU to get free or subsidized health care is for someone else to have their wages taken and re-distributed to you … that’s called SOCIALISM. You should not be proud of being a socialist.
Regular talking has a pitch, right? I think you pick what pitch/notes you want to adjust it to, and it will do it. Seems like they put a lot of work into it… Thanks for showing me the video! If you go to the Antares website, I think they might explain more about your Auto-tuner… It didn’t come with a book?
