Former Alabama State Legislator Pleads Guilty to Bribery
WASHINGTON—Terry Spicer, a former Alabama state legislator, pleaded guilty today in U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Alabama to a one-count criminal information charging him with federal program bribery for accepting cash and other things of value from a businessman and his lobbyist in return for the use of his official position and influence, announced Assistant Attorney General Lanny A.

Cook County to pay $55 million to inmates at county jail
Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart (WBEZ file) Cook County is paying out $55 million to people who were strip searched while being processed into the county jail. The settlement follows a trial from the summer of 2009 in which a jury found that the Cook County Sheriff’s department violated the rights of thousands of prisoners admitted to the jail. The department had a practice of strip searching all incoming inmates, and those searches took place in an open hallway, filled with men standing naked, shoulder to shoulder.

LOS ANGELES – Jamie McCourt’s attorneys say they located an agreement that shows she has an equal right in the ownership of the Dodgers and that it will dramatically alter a bitter struggle for the team.
