French music industry reaches deal with YouTube
PARIS – YouTube and France’s leading music industry group have announced a deal that makes sure musical artists get paid when their videos are seen on the online video sharing site. YouTube and the French industry group SACEM say in a joint statement the agreement means songwriters, composers and publishers “will be paid for the distribution of their works on YouTube.” The statement did not say how much or how they would be paid.
New ABC News president will face complex job
NEW YORK – ABC’s search for someone to preside over its news division comes as the Internet and cable television have made the job much different and more complex than what outgoing chief David Westin took over nearly 14 years ago. ABC News employees returned from a holiday weekend to learn that Westin would step down at the end of the year.

NKorean state TV airs team’s 7-0 loss to Portugal (AP)
PYONGYANG, North Korea – North Korean state television aired full live coverage of the team’s 7-0 World Cup loss to Portugal on Monday in what is believed to be a first for a North Korean football game taking place abroad. Korean Central Broadcasting carried live coverage and commentary of the match in Cape Town, South Africa, ending the broadcast soon after Portugal beat North Korea 7-0.
