What appeared to be a Halloween weekend political prank got one Cook County Board member arrested late Saturday for allegedly tearing up his opponent’s campaign yard signs in the southwest suburbs. But a spokesman for Republican Tony Peraica says the commissioner’s arrest just three days before he stands for re-election was a political set-up organized by Peraica’s Democratic opponent, Jeffery Tobolski. Peraica was arrested after 11 p.m. Saturday in McCook. He was charged with one count of criminal destruction of property for allegedly tearing up signs advertising Tobolski, who is the Mayor the tiny suburb where Peraica was arrested.

Early voting ends today

Thursday is the last day to vote early in Illinois. It’s also the final day to apply for an absentee ballot in the state. Election officials in Chicago are expected to give an update on early voting turnout later Thursday. So far in Cook County, more than 70,000 people have voted early. That’s more than double the total number of Cook County residents who voted in the previous midterm election in 2006.

Judge Issues 2nd Warrant for Eddy Curry

Chicago – Cook County Judge Alexander White has issued an arrest warrant for former Chicago Bull Eddy Curry for the second time in little more than a month, in a legal case that raises new questions about the NBA player’s financial woes. White ordered Curry’s arrest on Monday, after learning Curry failed to sign an agreement to pay the balance of a $660,000 legal settlement reached after he was sued for allegedly having sex with an underage girl.
