Though it’s still early in the race for Chicago’s next mayor, Rahm Emanuel is already taking advantage of his massive war chest. The former White House Chief of Staff had more than $1 million in his federal campaign fund at the end of September, and has been aggressively raising funds for his mayoral candidacy since then.
More challenges to Emanuel’s Chicago residency
CHICAGO – A longtime Chicago election attorney joined the effort Friday to push mayoral candidate Rahm Emanuel off the February ballot over his residency status, even as Emanuel’s supporters say the challenges are a frivolous distraction. Attorney Burt Odelson filed a petition claiming Emanuel can’t run for mayor because he hasn’t lived in Chicago for the year leading up to the election, as the law requires.
