Area Under Excessive Heat Warning
The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning as “oppressive” heat and humidity continues to create uncomfortable conditions for Chicago area residents. Afternoon temperatures will be in the lower 90s with the heat index values reaching at or above 100 degrees both Thursday and Friday, the weather service said. Night temperatures, however, will provide some relief with temperatures in the mid 70s. The excessive heat warning is in effect until 7 p.m. Friday.
